Crypto Funding Rate Calculator: How to Estimate Cost and APR

A funding-rate calculator helps traders estimate how much they may pay or receive while holding a perpetual futures position. This matters because funding can quietly reduce returns or improve carry depending on position direction.

Basic formula

Funding payment is generally estimated as position size multiplied by the funding rate. If the rate is 0.03% and your position is 10,000 USDT, the payment is roughly 3 USDT for that interval.

Daily estimate

Many exchanges settle funding every eight hours, or three times per day. A 0.03% interval rate would equal about 0.09% per day before fees and compounding effects.

Annualized estimate

Annualized funding is useful for comparing carry opportunities, but it can be misleading if the rate changes quickly. A high annualized number may disappear after one or two funding intervals.

What calculators miss

  • Trading fees and slippage.
  • Liquidation risk.
  • Funding-rate changes.
  • Different exchange formulas.
  • Position changes during the interval.

Use the calculator as a planning tool, not a guarantee.
